I have a ton on my mind tonight. It’s been an incredibly long month. I have done an awful job of escaping life in general, but that’s nothing new. Also nothing new? The fact that basketball has served as my main escape from conventionality has been a consistent theme of mine for awhile now:
Basketball is my drug of choice.
I get high on basketball.
I shoot up everything…threes, floaters, mid-range jumpshots.
I steal whenever I can.
I smoke whoever is checking me.
I hustle because I’m addicted.
I know I shouldn’t play ball all the time…but I do it anyway.
I know I shouldn’t play so long…but it feels so good.
I play until I lose…but when I lose I want to play until I win.
It’s a game, but it’s more than that when I’m playing. It’s survival.
I can rehab an injury from basketball, but I’ll probably just play through it.
I can’t stop.
When I’m off the court, I shoot without a ball.
I still touch barriers above me.

I have never been into poetry much, but I do have a lot of it. I’ve never really been into sharing it, and I might not start now. But I may consider it if I get comments on this site.
Anyway, short post. My CY team has an event today called March MATHness. It’s going to be incredible. and because it’s going to be incredible, we were at the school all night prepping. 6 sports-themed “booths” (Fraction football, baseball, basketball, Ratio Relay, Stevenson Sports Agency, and Math Racer – we got hooked up with iPads for that one), all in a rotation for 3 classes from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade per period. There are six periods, so we’re on from 8am until 3pm. I’m going to try and take pictures for once. We’ll see if the article makes it into March.
