The coronavirus pandemic has affected all of us — and it has disproportionately affected black and brown people in the United States of America, in addition to the elderly and people with pre-existing, debilitating health conditions. In the midst of that, we’ve seen a total disregard of empathy in the way of dismissing science and breaking the social distancing measures that were in place to protect people and flatten the coronavirus curve. The response to the protests to “open up the country” has differed greatly from past and present protests to “stop killing us.” It is the differences in these reactions, and where the use of force is applied, that highlight the inequalities in America.
